Oak Acorn Gumball Machine Tutorials:
How to drill out a lock, refill gum & candy, & remove coins
This page is a bit different than my other writings on this website. The following are two videos where I describe how to drill out a lock on an Oak Acorn gumball machine when you've lost the key or have acquired one that has the key missing! The second video is an instructional video for people that have these vintage Acorn machines on how to refill the candy and gum, and how to remove the coins from the bottom. These instructions will also work on some other gumball machines as well, but this is at the user's risk as I am using vintage Oak Acorn gumball machines.
The lock drilling procedure is for locks that have flat keys like you see here on the right. You will also need a few tools to drill out the lock, such as: 1/4" drill bit, a drill, tape, large flat head screwdriver, & safety glasses. As far as replacement candy and gum, that is going to be dependent on a machine by machine basis by what dispensing wheel is installed in the machine.
